Aces Faces or Bonus Jackpot Video Poker

by Gayle Mitchell

Aces Faces, as this version is known online also goes by the name of Bonus Jackpot Video Poker.
I prefer Aces Faces because the name says it all and there are already too many ‘Bonus’ VP versions in my opinion.

This lesson provides strategies and pay schedules for two versions. The first is also known as Double Double Jackpot Poker. The full pay version is 9/6.
9/6 refers to a 9 coin return for a full-house when betting one-coin and 6 coin return for a flush.

The second is also known as Double Jackpot Poker 8/5 version.
8/5 refers to an 8 coin return for a full-house when betting one-coin and 5 coin return for a flush.

If I haven’t confused you, let’s move on to the strategies and pay schedule for the 9/6 version.
The paytables below illustrate the payout for specific winning hands, one coin return payout and maximum coin return payout.

The Double Double Jackpot Poker version boasts the better overall average return of 100.35% when played with optimum strategy.

As you can see, the straight at 25 coins and full house at 45 coins is more generous than most Bonus VP paytables.
Generous, too, is the KQJ quads plus the four aces, with or without a fifth card.

Not much of a strategy change for players, as it’s second nature to hold Jacks or better with Aces Faces games, however a higher reward is yours with these versions.
Therefore, if you are dealt two pair, one pair being Jacks+, it is best to hold that one higher paying pair to grab the quad payout.
Overall Average Payback = 100.35%

This version is definitely a poorer imitation of its cousin above, however the better AKQJ quad payouts remain.
The straight and full house is reduced by 5, but two pair is increased to ten with max. coin in play.

Holding both pairs, regardless of card rank is best here to collect at least the 10-coin reward and keep you in the game.
Overall Average Payback results in a respectable 99.63%.

Be sure to add these two versions to your ‘VP collection’ and education.

May all your VP choices turn out to be ‘Royalty’.
